President Donald Trump said on Nov. 7 he wasn’t “being sarcastic” and praised Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for being the likely Speaker of the House now that the Democrats have taken a majority in the House.
“I give her a lot of credit, she works very hard and she’s worked long and hard. I give her a great deal of credit for what she’s done and what she’s accomplished,” he said.
The president also stated that he’s looking forward to working with Democratic leadership in the House. “We actually have a great relationship,” Trump said of Pelosi in the White House press conference.
“I really think and I really respected what Nancy said last night about bipartisanship and getting together and uniting,” Trump also said. “She used the word ‘uniting’ and she used the ‘bipartisanship’ statement which is so important because that’s what we should be doing.”

Acosta, who critics say acts more like an activist than a reporter, was called on by the president at a post-midterms press conference at the White House on Nov. 7.
Trump started off by saying he was pleased with the results of the elections, noting that Republicans extended their majority in the Senate while also retaining some closely contested governor seats in states such as Florida and Ohio. But then things got tense.
Trump Tells Reporter That She Asked Him a ‘Racist Question’
President Trump slammed a reporter during a White House press conference for asking him “a racist question.”
Yamiche Alcindor, a White House correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, on Nov. 7 asked if Trump’s use of the word “nationalism” at several rallies was meant to embolden “white nationalism.”
“That’s such a racist question,” Trump told her. “What you just said is so insulting to me. It’s a very terrible thing that you said.”
Trump said that his use of the word is about his “America First” policies such as tougher trade measures, strengthening the border, and matters of national security.
“I love our country,” Trump told Alcindor. “You have nationalists. You have globalists. I also love the world and don’t mind helping the world, but we have to straighten out our country first.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions submitted his resignation letter to President Donald Trump on Nov. 7, according to reports.
In a follow-up statement, Trump said his administration is “pleased to announce” that Matthew G. Whitaker, who was the chief of staff under Sessions, will become acting attorney general.
