President Donald Trump has said he will be giving the State of the Union address on Feb. 5, according to an announcement from the White House following a clash during the weekslong partial government shutdown.

In accepting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s invitation, Trump said it is “my great honor to accept,” adding that “we have a great story to tell and yet, great goals to achieve!”

Huawei Facing Charges in the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) unsealed two indictments against China’s Huawei Technologies Co., its chief financial officer (CFO), Meng Wanzhou, and several of the company’s subsidiaries, in a pair of legal cases accusing the company of violating sanctions against Iran, and stealing trade secrets from U.S. mobile carrier T-Mobile.

FBI director Christopher Wray said: “These cases made clear that, as a country, we have to carefully consider the risks that companies like Huawei pose if we allow them to enter our telecommunications infrastructure.”

The basic, overriding allegation is that Huawei did business in Iran through a subsidiary, using the U.S. banking system to clear tens of millions of dollars in transactions for that company. That violated U.S. sanctions on Iran.

Another major crime Huawei is accused of—stealing trade secrets from its U.S. business partner T-Mobile. The company allegedly had a bonus program that rewarded employees who stole competitors’ intellectual property.

Roger Stone Pleads Not Guilty to Mueller Charges

Political strategist and self-ascribed dirty trickster Roger Stone pleaded not guilty on Jan. 29 to charges brought forth by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Stone was arrested on Jan. 25, during an early morning raid at his home in Florida and released hours later on $250,000 bond. His lawyer Robert Buschel said Stone pleaded not guilty to the charges of making false statements to Congress, obstruction of an official proceeding, and witness tampering.

All of the charges against Stone are unrelated to President Donald Trump or his presidential campaign. Mueller is investigating allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. To date, the special counsel has not charged anyone with collusion.

Stone arrived at the courthouse Tuesday, he smiled as he passed through a gauntlet of reporters, and waved to a small crowd of protesters and supporters, yelling “Lock him up” and “Roger Stone did nothing wrong.”
