Poland has arrested a Chinese employee of Huawei and a former Polish security official on spying allegations, officials and sources told Reuters on Jan. 11, a move that could fuel Western security concerns about the telecoms equipment maker.

However, a spokesman for the Polish security services told Reuters the allegations related to individual actions, and were not linked directly to Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.

Huawei, the world’s biggest producer of telecommunications equipment, faces intense scrutiny in the West over its relationship with the Chinese regime and allegations that its equipment could be used by Beijing for spying. The allegations have led several Western countries to restrict Huawei’s access to their markets.

Trump: Not Looking to Declare Emergency Right Now

President Trump is doubling-down on his pledge to consider declaring a national emergency over immigration at the U.S.-Mexico Border.

The president briefly spoke with reporters on Friday at a border security roundtable at the White House.

President Trump: “Now the easy solution for me is to call a national emergency. I can do that very quickly. I have the absolute right to do it. But I’m not going to do it so fast. Because this is something Congress should do, and we’re waiting for the Democrats to vote. They should come back and vote.”

SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Launches Iridium Communications Satellites

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched Iridium communications satellites on Friday, taking off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The company said it launched 10 satellites, completing the eight-launch Iridium NEXT contract that put 75 satellites in space over a two-year time period.

The rocket’s first stage booster also made a smooth landing atop a SpaceX drone ship called “Just Read the Instructions” in the Pacific Ocean.
