Video: Trump Tells Reporter That She Asked Him a ‘Racist Question’

President Trump slammed a reporter during a White House press conference for asking him “a racist question.”

Yamiche Alcindor, a White House correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, on Nov. 7 asked if Trump’s use of the word “nationalism” at several rallies was meant to embolden “white nationalism.”

“That’s such a racist question,” Trump told her. “What you just said is so insulting to me. It’s a very terrible thing that you said.”

Trump said that his use of the word is about his “America First” policies such as tougher trade measures, strengthening the border, and matters of national security.

“I love our country,” Trump told Alcindor. “You have nationalists. You have globalists. I also love the world and don’t mind helping the world, but we have to straighten out our country first.”

“Oh, I don’t believe that,” Trump also said to her."I don’t believe that. I don’t believe that. I don’t know—why do I have my highest poll numbers ever with African Americans? Why do I have among the highest poll numbers with African Americans? I mean, why do I have my highest poll numbers?”

In late October, a Rasmussen Reports poll found that around 40 percent of likely black voters approved of Trump’s job performance. Compared with a year ago, it’s a significant improvement.

The poll also noted that Trump had 29 percent support among black people on Aug. 6, compared with 15 percent on Aug. 3, 2017.

In a later portion of the press conference, Trump told another reporter he doesn’t use racist remarks.

“I would never do that. I don’t use racist remarks and if I did you would have known about it. I’ve been hearing there were tapes for years. I never worried about it because I’ve never used racist remarks,” Trump told a Yahoo reporter.

“When you talk about division, it’s people like this who cause division,” he said of the reporter.
