Video: ‘Stealth’ Police Car Stops Truck Driving 100 MPH in Texas

The Corpus Christi Police Department said that it successfully used a stealth police car to pull over speeders.

The office posted a video on Aug. 28 of a stealth car’s dash camera footage. About 20 seconds into the video, a blue Ford truck can be seen speeding and passing several cars in the left lane.

The officer of the stealth car then switches lanes to get behind the truck, but the officer is unsuccessful due to the high speed. The posted speed limit in the area is 65 mph, according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.

The video mentions that the driver was going more than 100 mph at times.

Moments later, the truck exits the highway and pulls over. A uniformed officer is seen approaching the vehicle, and he then tells the driver to exit.

The video says that the driver was arrested and taken to the City Detention Center. He faces reckless driving charges.

Reckless driving, under Texas law, is when a motorist drives a vehicle without regarding the safety of people or property. It’s a misdemeanor and can carry a fine of $200 or 30 days in jail, the Caller-Times reported.

The Caller-Times in February reported that the Corpus Christi Police Department had begun using stealth vehicles. A photo of the vehicle, a Dodge Charger, has lights on its grill and at the top of its windshield.

“The Corpus Christi Police Department began utilizing its Stealth Car on Monday. Please note that the car will be operated by a uniformed Corpus Christi Police Officer. Please be a courteous driver and obey the law,” the department wrote on Twitter.
