Officials in Miami have released video footage of a man’s gun attack on a Trump hotel earlier this year.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office released the footage on Oct. 24, showing Jonathan Oddi’s rampage at the Trump National Doral Miami resort after he broke inside the building.

Oddi is seen unfurling an American flag across a lobby counter before getting into a gunfight with police. The 42-year-old remains in jail while awaiting trial for the attempted murder of police officers and a number of other charges, according to the Miami Herald.

Before he engaged police, Oddi, who is dressed in black and barefoot, is seen grabbing an object and slamming computer monitors. When police arrived on the scene, he briefly put his hands in the air before shooting at police, who fired back. He’s then seen running up a flight of stairs.

Defense lawyers Christopher DeCoste and Tara Kawass told the Miami Herald that Oddi may have been insane at the time.

“A defendant can be found not guilty by reason of insanity. The evidence would support such a finding. The end would not result in outright release, but rather intensive and clearly necessary treatment,” they told the paper.

During the battle with police, he was ranting about President Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama, and rapper P. Diddy, the Herald reported.
WSVN reported that Oddi was treated for a gunshot wound before he was taken to jail. His next court appearance is sometime this week.
The Sun-Sentinel reported that Oddi had posted a photo of a Time magazine cover of President Trump. “Reality is harsh,” Oddi wrote.
