A shocking 360-degree video shows a tourist almost being hit by a plane in St. Barts last week.
The clip shows a man taking pictures of a plane about to land at the Gustaf III Airport. The airport on the Caribbean island is known as one of the most dangerous in the world because of its short landing strip.
The video shows the man being narrowly missed by the plane as it flew by, and him subsequently dodging. After the plane flew passed, the tourist turned around and continued taking pictures.
The video was captured by St. Barts resident Sebastien Politano, who said the wheels of the plane made contact with the tourist.
“The man has felt the wheel of the aircraft touching his right hand. He has shown me the little traces,” Politano told the Daily Mail.
“He just said, ‘It hit my hand, it hit my hand.’ At this time I think he doesn’t realise that he is a lucky man,” he added.
Politano, 46, who avoided the plane by ducking a few feet away, said he was testing his new 360-degree camera when the incident happened. He said he does not know the tourist.
A picture posted on Facebook shows a plane almost hitting a man on a motorcycle.
Another 360-degree video, also taken by Politano, and posted on the Facebook page SXSEB, shows a large crowd of tourists lined up on Maho Beach to see a KLM jet zoom by.
