Rain is an essential part of life, being the key ingredient to plant growth, filling the reservoirs, and helping wash away dirt and grime from city streets.

Still, rain often gets a bad rap because it means the loss of an otherwise beautiful day—especially in the summer, and especially on a weekend.

So in the rainy city of Seattle, one artist decided to invent something that would change the narrative, and make people look forward to rain.

Using non-toxic biodegradable water repellent, he’s been adding stencils all over the city.

They stay completely invisible under normal conditions, but burst onto the scene in the rain. It gives residents a reason to smile and a reason to enjoy the rain and think of it in a new light.
