Nissan recently released a somewhat terrifying video of self-parking office chairs, dubbed the “Intelligent Parking Chair,” which mimics self-parking cars.
It doesn’t appear that the chair is for sale, it’s merely a display of Nissan’s technological prowess for assisted parking.
The chairs respond to human commands, including clapping.
They operate using four cameras placed throughout the room, which then focus on a target position along with a route destination. The chair can rotate 360-degrees.
“I would clap while all the chairs are filled with people,” wrote one person in the YouTube comments section. “Lol, humans are progressing towards laziness at an unbelievable pace,” added another. “What happens when you give a presentation and get applause?” asked one.
According to the automaker:
The “Intelligent Parking Chair” is a unique chair that automatically moves to a set position. The chair includes a roller to automatically move 360 degrees paired with a system that indicates the target position.
Four cameras placed on the room’s ceiling generate a bird’s-eye view to wirelessly transmit the chair’s position and its route to destination. With this innovation in office technology, Japanese businessmen are now freed from the troublesome task of arranging chairs, using this new technology already adopted in the X-Trail Hybrid and other Nissan vehicles.
