A video shows New Jersey Sgt. Greg Bogert saving a man who wanted jump off the Route 287 bridge on April 25.

The Riverdale Police Department said in a Facebook post that Bogert responded to a 911 call involving a man walking in and out of traffic by Exit 35 on the Hamburg Turnpike.

When he arrived, Bogert saw the individual upset and crying. The man then ran to the concrete barrier.

“Come here, don’t do it!” Bogert told the man as he pulled him off the ledge. Bogert restrained the man and kept him down on the floor as he wept.

During the incident, the individual, who is believed to be from Pennsylvania, yelled, “My family is dead, I just want to die,” an official said, according to NJ.com.

The police department said the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
