Carlie Flanders, who teaches first grade at Elmer Wolfe Elementary in Union Bridge, Maryland, is one of those teachers.
Flanders often pays out of her own pocket to ensure the kids get the proper school supplies and get fed every day, since the school serves a lot of low-income students.
She also makes sure the kids are learning what they need to, and makes it fun to learn even the boring subjects.
