A video shows the moment a driver who allegedly stole a pickup truck leads police on a chase in Florida, reportedly drinking beer the whole time.

WOFL-TV reported that the man “stopped, holding two full beer cans out the window” when police approached.

“Drinking beer as he stopped,” a voice says in the video.

Video footage showed the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Justin Smith, dropping beer from his open window.

Smith was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, retail theft, as well as fleeing and eluding, the Ocala Star-Banner reported.

The chase took place along Interstate 75 in Ocala, Florida, after 2 a.m. local time, according to MailOnline.

Smith, as he was being detained, hadn’t put the vehicle into park, so the truck continued to roll before an officer jumped inside and stopped it.

He remained at the jail with bail on the eight charges totaling $22,500, the Star-Banner reported Sept. 19.

According to WOFL-TV, Smith told officers while he was on his way to jail that he kept the police chase going because he was trying to “keep his buzz going.”

Ocala Officer David Moorehead said they located an 18-pack of Natural Ice beer in the passenger seat, and five cans were missing.

Smith smelled strongly of alcohol, had slurred speech, and appeared to be intoxicated, the WOFL-TV report said.
