A Victorian MP now faces expulsion from the parliamentary Liberal party after she attended a women’s rights rally in Melbourne.

On March 18, MP Moira Deeming, who represents the Western Metropolitan area, delivered a speech at the Let Women Speak rally organised by British women’s rights activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull  (Parker Posie) outside the Victorian parliament.

The rally encountered heavy interference from LGBTQ+ activists and was disrupted by a group of Nazi supporters at one point, causing it to be ended ahead of time.

The sudden appearance of the group of unidentified men, who repeatedly performed the Nazi salute, sparked violent clashes between police and LGBTQ+ activists.

Victorian Liberal Party Leader Moves to Expel Deeming

After the incident, Victorian Liberal Leader John Pesutto quickly condemned the behaviour of the nazi supporters and distanced himself from Deeming.
“These values we saw displayed on the steps of parliament are not consistent with the values I and the Liberal Party stand for,” Pesutto told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“We don’t stand with neo-Nazis. We don’t stand with white supremacists.

“We will never tolerate or accept any association with neo-Nazis and white supremacists or anybody who sympathises with them.”

Regarding the fate of Deeming, Pesutto said he met the MP on March 19 to discuss her role in organising, promoting and participating in the rally.

The Liberal Leader then said Deeming’s position was undefendable and that he would move a motion to expel her from the Victorian parliamentary Liberal party at the next meeting.

However, Pesutto added that it was not up to him to decide whether Deeming’s membership in the broader Liberal Party would be cancelled.

What Happened at the Rally

In a video, it was shown that Kellie-Jay Keen, Deeming and many rally attendees stood in front of the Victorian parliament to express their concerns about women’s rights being undermined as the federal and state governments allowing biological men to participate in women’s sports or use women’s bathrooms.

They also spoke about media censorship, the leftish agenda that drove children to undertake gender-affirming surgeries and other related issues.

The rally faced fierce protests from hundreds of LGBTQ+ activists and socialist supporters, who were blocked by police on the other side of the street.

The police created a buffer zone to prevent protesters from getting close to the rally. However, some protesters still managed to break through the line and disrupt the rally multiple times.

As the rally went on, a group of mask-wearing men in black clothing suddenly broke into the buffer zone and approached the rally with police guidance.

They then shouted at the protesters and performed the Nazi salute, to the surprise of rally attendees and organisers.

After the incident occurred, Deeming took to social media to express disappointment with Victoria Police for letting masked men into the rally buffer zone.

“Police managed to stop hordes of (trans rights activists) but somehow could only walk masked men past us (as) they did a horrible Nazi salute,” she said on Twitter.

Also, in another video on Twitter, the MP said she was not aware of the identity of the group of men in black and thought that they were about to attack the rally.

“When I was alerted to the fact that there were all these masked men coming towards us … I thought the trans activists had broken through the (police) line, and we were about to be attacked,” she said.

“The police, for some reason I do not understand, ushered them in, let them have photos on the steps next to us, and instead of pushing them back out the same way they came in, they took them right through the middle of the buffer zone.

“And right as they were in the centre in front of all those cameras, they did a Nazi salute, and that’s horrifying.”

Meanwhile, Melbourne Activist Legal Support (MALS) issues a statement declaring police hyperfocused on transactivists at the rally.

“MALS asserts that Victoria Police failed to consider or uphold any of its numerous obligations to prevent discriminatory or prejudice-motivated acts towards trans and gender-diverse people in its policing of the rallies on Saturday afternoon,” they said.

“In fact, MALS observed that the policing itself constituted biased and discriminatory actions on the part of Victoria Police.”

However, a representative of the Victorian police defended the actions of law enforcement officers, saying they were powerless to stop the Nazi supporters.

“It’s offensive and deeply offensive in the community. But it’s not something the police can actively intervene on, and that’s difficult for us,” Police Association of Victoria secretary Wayne Gatt said.
