FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—Banker Regla Benitez said Shen Yun’s Saturday matinee performance at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts was more than she expected.
“I never expected it to be this great! I mean, I thought it would be—I read the reviews that it was very nice, but it was more than I expected,” Ms. Benitez said.
Based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, presenting 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture though story-based dances that bring to life legends of Chinese history.
“The costumes, the music, the dance, the flying—it’s different. Very, very wonderful. Very beautiful,” Ms. Benitez said.
With its 5,000-year history, classical Chinese dance has soaked up profound wisdom from every era and dynasty, making it a complete system of dance with sophisticated dance techniques and deep inner meaning.
“It was wonderful. It was a very nice experience,” she said, adding that she hopes to bring her daughter to see tomorrow’s performance.
New York-based Shen Yun tours internationally with an all-new lineup each year. Its mission is to revive China’s authentic traditional culture. Shen Yun will conclude its performances at the Broward Center’s Au-Rene Theatre on Jan. 13.
