REDONDO BEACH, Calif.—A woman was killed Nov. 12 and her male passenger injured, while a 34-year-old man from North Dakota was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Lilienthal and Alvord lanes, west of Hawthorne Blvd. and north of 190th St., around 9:35 a.m., according to Redondo Beach police Lt. Mark Valdivia.

The officers found the female driver had died at the scene from her injuries and her male passenger was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Mr. Valdivia said.

Police arrested Jacob Jordan Nimz for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Mr. Valdivia said.

“What happened was there was an allegation that Nimz was involved in a physical altercation in the car before the crash,” Redondo Beach police Lt. Brian Long said. “So, he was arrested on the assault charge.”

The name of the deceased was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
