The White House and the FBI on March 12 disputed claims that an internal government alert said Iran wanted to retaliate for U.S. attacks in the Middle East by launching drone attacks against the West Coast of the United States, prompting ABC to issue a note.

A report and social media post from ABC News on Wednesday said that the FBI warned police departments in California of the potential threat. The media outlet said it cited an FBI alert that its reporters reviewed.
