WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump called Israel’s strikes against leaders of the Hamas terrorist group in Doha, Qatar, on Sept. 9 “unfortunate,” noting that the decision was made by Israel, not by him.

Trump confirmed in a post on Truth Social that the U.S. military notified his administration of the strike, and that he spoke with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the attack.
