ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y.—West Nile Virus (WNV) has been detected in the local mosquito population, according to the Orange County Health Department. The mosquitoes carrying the potentially lethal disease were found in the Greenwood Lake area.
The county government told the public that they had detected the virus in a mosquito pool near Greenwood Lake on Aug. 6. It was discovered as part of a regular mosquito survey. As of now, there have been no reported human or mammal cases in the region.
