Shequaga Falls in Montour Falls, New York, turned into a raging torrent of water on Aug. 14 after continuous heavy rains and flash flooding in the region.

The video, filmed by Ernest Spitzer Frenshaw, shows Shequaga Falls thundering down into a fortified plunge pool behind a home as the rain kept falling.

A small park area sits between the house and the falls’ plunge pool.

The incessant rain, which fell over central New York and much of Pennsylvania, sparked flood warnings. A State of Emergency was declared for Seneca County, according to WHEC on Aug. 14.

“With extreme wet weather continuing, I am directing state agencies to be ready for more flooding as this slow moving system adds more water to already saturated soil, rivers and streams,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “As we are preparing for the worst, take time now to prepare your home, business and vehicles, have emergency supplies ready, plan in advance, and stay tuned to local forecasts.”
