The U.S. Space Force has awarded SpaceX $4.16 billion to build a network of satellites that will form one of the layers of the Trump administration’s Golden Dome for America project.

SpaceX will use the funds for the Golden Dome’s Space-Based Airborne Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) program, which aims to establish a “persistent, global capability to sense and track airborne targets from space,” the Space Systems Command, part of the Space Force, said in a May 29 statement.
