The 27-year-old former UCLA basketball player Tyler Honeycutt was reported dead following a police standoff, confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department(LAPD).
The incident happened on July 6 in Honeycutt’s own home at Van Nuys. Police responded to a call from Honeycutt’s mother at around 5 p.m. saying he was acting erratically with a gun in his hand. Honeycutt was barricaded and appears to have shot himself while officers were approaching him. LAPD confirmed that after the first gunshot from Honeycutt, officers returned fire, but none of the officers’ bullets struck Honeycutt.
