President Donald Trump hosted the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House on July 23.
During a ceremony in the Rose Garden, the president congratulated the team on winning the baseball championship back to back. He praised their performance throughout the 2025 season.
“The 2025 Dodger season was one for the record books and 150 years of Major League Baseball,” Trump said.
“In fact, from the first pitch to the final out, they endured and triumphed through the longest season of any team in the history of Major League Baseball: 229 days,” he added.
The president noted that superstar pitcher Shohei Ohtani, whom he called “an international legend,” won a third consecutive unanimous league MVP.
Trump recalled the Dodgers’ performance in the playoffs.
“In the postseason, the Dodgers exploded with nine wins in their first 10 games. Unbeatable,” he said.
“In the National League Championship Series against the Brewers, the brilliant Dodgers pitching rotation of Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Shohei, and, of course, Yoshi Yamamoto combined for a record-setting [Earned Run Average] of just 0.63,” Trump continued.
The president went on to recall the rest of the National League Championship Series, where the Dodgers swept the Milwaukee Brewers in four games.
Trump hailed the Dodgers’ performance against the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series as “among the most thrilling championships in the history of the sport.” He even noted that he had “a little bet” with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, though he did not say what it was.
“This team proudly brought home the championship for the USA,” Trump said. “And if they managed to repeat this year, they would become the first team to win three in a row since the days of the legendary baseball dynasty, the 1990 New York Yankees.”
Trump is known to be a Yankees fan.
Additionally, Trump touted the Dodgers as a great brand.
“When you talk about a brand, it’s one of the great brands anywhere in the world,” he said. “No matter where you go, the Dodgers is one of the great brands.”
Dodgers owner Mark Walter, also the team’s chairman, said it was “an honor” to be back at the White House and “celebrate with this great tradition of celebrating a championship with the president of the United States.”
“We’re grateful to be here following another incredible season with what many believe was the greatest World Series ever played,” he said. “Winning back-to-back championships is an extraordinary accomplishment, and it reflects the talent, determination, and character of everyone in the organization.”
In addition to politicians such as Reps. Young Kim (R-Calif.) and Vince Fong (R-Calif.), in attendance were Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
The Dodgers currently have the best record in baseball at 65–38. The team visited the White House during an off-day between their series with the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets.
