Trump Says He’s Not Seeking Summit With Xi but May Visit China

The president made the remarks as administration officials held a third round of trade talks with Chinese officials in Stockholm.

President Donald Trump on July 29 dismissed reports suggesting that he was seeking a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, but said he may visit China at the invitation of Xi.

“The Fake News is reporting that I am SEEKING a ‘summit’ with President Xi of China. This is not correct, I am not SEEKING anything,” the president stated on Truth Social. “I may go to China, but it would only be at the invitation of President Xi, which has been extended. Otherwise, no interest.”
