U.S. President Donald Trump said on Oct. 8 that he may travel to the Middle East on Sunday for peace talks to end the Israel–Hamas war in Gaza and return the remaining hostages.

The development came during a roundtable meeting with several Cabinet members on Wednesday, just hours before Trump announced that Israel and terrorist group Hamas had signed the U.S.-drafted hostage release deal, with peace talks still ongoing for the final phase to end the war.
