President Donald Trump reiterated on Tuesday during a Cabinet meeting that he is planning on sending out tariff-derived payments to Americans and stressed that income tax refunds will likely increase next year as White House officials pivoted to an affordability message.

“Next year is projected to be the largest tax refund season ever, and we’re going to give out refunds out of the tariffs,” he said at the White House. He said that along with “giving a nice dividend to the people,” there will be efforts to reduce the national debt with the revenues generated by the tariffs.
