WASHINGTON—After considering five candidates for several months, President Donald Trump selected Jerome “Jay” Powell as the next chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve.
“Jay has earned the respect of members of Congress straight across party lines,” said Trump during his announcement in the White House on Nov. 2.
