The 2024 primary season officially kicked off in Iowa on Jan. 15 and will run until June. Candidates must win or do well in each state’s primary or caucus to gain party delegates and the nomination. The candidate who has a majority of the delegates will be the presumptive nominee at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, scheduled for July 15 to 18.
Though primary elections will take place over the course of six months, more than 70 percent of delegates will be awarded by the end of March. Election dates and rules are still subject to change by the states, adding an element of unpredictability to the race—and keeping candidates vigilant.
