Tennessee named a new bridge after President Donald Trump on July 9.
The President Donald J. Trump bridge was unveiled along Interstate 40 in Dandridge—located approximately 30 miles east of Knoxville.
The ceremony included Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), Tennessee state Rep. Jeremy Faison, Tennessee state Sen. Jessie Seal, and members of the Trump family.
“When Tennesseans sent POTUS back to Washington with the largest mandate in state history, they knew the promise of his pro-growth agenda because its principles have driven people there in droves,” Bessent wrote in an X post on Thursday.
Bessent said the Volunteer State “embodies the best of what President Trump is building nationally” for American workers, manufacturers, and families.
“President Trump is focused on saving our country—not garnering recognition,” White House Spokesman Davis Ingle told the Epoch Times in a statement on July 9. “However, given his vast accomplishments, including signing the largest tax cut in history, securing the border, restoring peace through strength, and more, it is natural that local officials and other great patriots want to recognize the President’s incredible work on behalf of the American people.”
Seal called it one of the “most historic highway naming ceremonies” in the state of Tennessee.
Seal and Faison were behind efforts to name the structure along I-40 near Douglas Lake after the 47th President.
The naming was part of legislation that included names for a series of other roads and bridges in the state. The bill passed the state Senate and House in March and April 2025 and was signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee in May 2025.
“The reason myself and Senator Seal want to name this bridge—it’s one of the biggest monuments that we have around here—we want to name it after him because I see President Trump as the same sort of man who is not interested in what everybody thinks,” Faison said. “He’s interested in saving my country. He’s interested in making sure that tomorrow there’s a future for my children and grandchildren, and he is worthy of us honoring him.”
“Normally bridges and other landmarks aren’t named after people until after they have passed as a way of honoring their legacy,” Cohen wrote on X.
The bridge naming came on the same day that Palm Beach International Airport was renamed to President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
The three-letter location identifier was changed from PBI to DJT.
“FAA systems and publications reflect the new identifier,” the FAA wrote in an X post on July 9. “Pilots, air traffic controllers, and aviation stakeholders should use DJT for flight planning and operations.”
