Teen Driver Dies at Hospital Following Crash That Killed Passenger in Lake Los Angeles

LAKE LOS ANGELES, Calif.—A 15-year-old boy who was injured when the Jeep he was driving rolled over on a street in Lake Los Angeles died at a hospital a day after the crash, which left one of his passengers dead and four others injured, authorities said Dec. 18.

The crash occurred about 11:15 p.m. Friday on Fieldspring Street, south of Avenue O, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Alejandro Monge Ramos, 17, of Hemet died at the scene, according to the CHP and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

Diego Manzo, 15, died at a hospital on Saturday, the medical examiner’s office reported. Diego, of Hesperia, was the driver, the highway patrol reported.

According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, Diego was driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee north on Fieldspring Street, when “for reasons still under investigation” the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

None of the six occupants—all teenage boys—wore a seatbelt, the CHP reported.

A 14-year-old from Lancaster and a 17-year-old from Palmdale suffered major injuries. A 16-year-old from Littlerock and a 17-year-old from Pearblossom suffered minor injuries.

“It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in this collision,” the highway patrol reported.
