Suspect Identified in Fatal Stabbing of UCLA Grad Student at Furniture Store

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has identified a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old UCLA graduate student in the Hancock Park boutique furniture store where she worked.

Shawn Laval Smith stands 6-feet-3 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds, and is 31 years old. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, people should not approach him and instead call 911, police said.
