The neighbor accused of killing a famous voice actor was indicted on one count of murder by a Texas grand jury on Nov. 17.

Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 57, was accused of shooting Jonathan Joss, who is most known for his work as the voice of John Redcorn in “King of the Hill,” on June 1, according to a court filing obtained by The Epoch Times.

The indictment accused Alvarez of “intent to cause serious bodily injury to an individual” when he allegedly shot the actor during a dispute outside of the entertainer’s home. The filing adds that Alvarez’s alleged actions were “clearly dangerous to human life that caused the death of Jonathan Gonzales.”

Alvarez was granted bail and released on a $200,000 bond on June 4, just days after the shooting, according to court documents reviewed by The Epoch Times. It’s not clear if he was ordered to return to police custody following Monday’s indictment.

The Epoch Times asked the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney if Alvarez will be taken into custody and await trial behind bars but did not get a clear answer.

“Because the case is still pending, no additional details or information can be released at this time,” a representative from the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s office told the Epoch Times via email.

The San Antonio Police Department and Alvarez’s lawyer, defense attorney Nicholas LaHood, did not respond to requests for comment.

The deadly incident occurred on June 1, when Joss, whose legal name is Jonathan Joss Gonzales, and his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, were checking the mail at their home in San Antonio, which burned down in January.

During the mail-collecting attempt, Gonzales claimed that Alvarez approached them and yelled “violent homophobic slurs” before he opened fire.

The shooting occurred after years of alleged arguments between Joss and Alvarez.

Before his death, the voice actor confirmed with unnamed neighbors that tensions were high, according to media reports that covered his house fire.

San Antonio police initially said there was no evidence that Joss’s sexual orientation was related to the shooting, but San Antonio Police Chief William McManus walked back those allegations and said the speculation was “premature.”

Another of Alvarez’s attorneys, Alfonso Otero, said in June that his client is innocent and denied that Gonzales made any homophobic statements.

Joss, who has Comanche and White Mountain Apache ancestry, was born in San Antonio in 1965 and graduated with A BA in Theater Arts from Our Lady of the Lake University before he entered the entertainment industry in the ’90s.

Joss appeared in TV movies and video games until his career skyrocketed when he got cast in projects like “Walker, Texas Ranger,” “Pocahontas 2: Journey to a New World,” and “King of the Hill.”
