The search for Adea Shabani, an aspiring actress who lived in Hollywood, is still ongoing, days after her alleged boyfriend killed himself after a police chase.
Shabani moved from Macedonia to Southern California two months before she disappeared,
CBS News reported. On Thursday night, March 22, police chased a man who was identified as her boyfriend before he fatally shot himself during a police standoff.
The Riverside County Coroner’s office told CBS that the suspect was 33-year-old Christopher Spotz of North Hollywood. The Los Angeles Police Department said it’s not confirming his connection to Shabani.
The California Highway Patrol said he’d been driving a stolen Toyota truck that had a weapon “possibly been used in a homicide which had occurred in Los Angeles County.”
NBC4 in Los Angeles reported that in the days after she disappeared, Shabani’s friends went to the police, saying they had received an anonymous call from someone who claimed to have seen her placed in a truck bed by Spotz. She appeared to be “drugged and in danger,” the caller said, the report stated.
Her mother flew to California from Macedonia to help with the search. Her family also hired a private investigator. “We have no evidence that she is a runaway. She’s not [voluntarily] missing. We don’t have any evidence that she wanted to harm herself,” private investigator Jayden Brant told KABC.
She’s described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds,
People magazine reported. She’s white with blonde hair and blue eyes.
“Treat it as if it were your own family member, some of your own friends, because believe me if you met this girl, if you knew this girl, she would be a great friend to everybody that knows her,” friend Lisjen Jovanovski told
KABC.
