San Jose to Become First US City to Require Gun Insurance and Fee

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—In a unanimous vote on June 29, the San Jose City Council decided to move forward with two approaches to gun regulation.

One is to require gun owners to have liability insurance coverage for their firearms. The second is to require them to pay a fee to compensate taxpayers for the cost of gun-related incidents.
