Several Republican presidential candidates reaffirmed their pro-life positions during an Iowa gathering over the weekend and dug deeper into policy specifics.

The GOP has maintained a general anti-abortion stance for decades. But a majority of the nine candidates who appeared at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s 23rd Annual Fall Banquet promised to do more than push for a simple ban, clarifying their exact positions on the issue.

‘These Mothers Need Our Support’

While most of the conversation surrounding abortion focuses on access to the procedure and whether there should be limits, several Republican candidates spoke of a need for a more compassionate approach that might include providing care for pregnant mothers.
