WESTFIELD, Ind.—Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) ignored the advice of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and braved a town hall meeting with a feisty group of constituents, answering the public’s questions in the face of persistent heckling for two hours.

Johnson on March 12 advised Republicans to skip these district gatherings after several were disrupted by attendees criticizing spending cuts resulting from audits conducted by the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by special government adviser Elon Musk.
