LOS ANGELES—The investigation was continuing Dec. 21 into a hit-and-run in the South Los Angeles area that fatally injured a pedestrian.

Paramedics sent to Vernon and Western avenues about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday took the 42-year-old woman to a hospital, where she died, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported.

The woman’s name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.

The alleged hit-and-run motorist left the scene, but later returned and was interviewed by police, LAPD Detective Gerald Chavarria told City News Service.

The woman was not arrested, but the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for filing consideration, Mr. Chavarria said. Her name was not released.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to contact Detective Gerald Chavarria at 213-924-3621 or via email at [email protected]. Tipsters may also call 877-LAPD-247 or use the website.
