Tens of thousands of pet toys sold across the nation have been recalled because the items could pose a “deadly” risk to households that have children.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall of around 51,160 packages of the Lil' Buddies Pet Laser Toy on April 16.
The recall stated that the Chinese-made pet toy made by JC Sales—a small, white laser with blue paw prints on the design and extra batteries provided in the packaging—violates the mandatory standard for consumer products.
“The battery compartment is not secure, making the button cell batteries easily accessible to children, posing a deadly ingestion hazard,” the recall notice posted on Thursday states.
The recall added that the batteries packaged with the nationally distributed toy, which pet owners use to have their animals chase, are not in child-resistant packaging.
The label does not list warnings, which is required by Reese’s Law.
Reese’s law was passed in 2022 to protect children from the dangers associated with accidentally eating button cell or coin batteries, according to the nonprofit organization Reese’s Purpose.
The organization advocated for the law after 18-month-old Reese Elizabeth Hamsmith lost her life in 2020 after ingesting a button battery that came loose from a remote control.
There were no incidents or injuries reported involving the Lil' Buddies Pet Laser Toy at the time the recall was posted.

The pet toy was sold at VR Wholesale in Arizona, Viva Bargain in California, and discount stores nationwide and online at jcsalesweb.com for about $1.
The recall applies to all toys purchased between February 2023 and November 2025.
The model number for the product is JC 24496.
The toy’s packaging advertised that it has five “exciting laser images” that will keep pets busy for hours and help them get exercise.
“Consumers should stop using the recalled pet toys, place them in an area that children cannot access and properly dispose of the batteries,” the recall adds.
Customers can get a recall by emailing a photograph to JC Sales at [email protected].
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a separate recall on Thursday for over 4,000 Sanlebi Pet Vet Playsets.
The sets were recalled because the button cell batteries in the nail grinder and otoscope can be easily accessed by children, which could pose a serious risk of injury or death.
The product was sold on Amazon between June 2025 and January 2026 for between $20 and $26.
