A Georgia police officer is recovering after being shot when off-duty by two men who tried to rob him, said police.
At least two men approached the two officers in what police believe was an attempted robbery.
“It certainly was the wrong victim for them, but he was able to defend himself and do a good job,” said Atlanta Deputy Chief Jeff Glazier to Fox.
One of the officers reportedly got into an argument and then a physical altercation with the men. The other officer then took out his service weapon and shot at the other men, hitting them in the legs and arms.
The three injured men were sent to Grady Hospital, and the incident is currently under investigation, said police.
“Everybody is in stable condition. We’re currently working the scene gathering all the information and again our detectives are talking to our victim and our suspects,” said Glazier.
