The Salesforce Transit Center, complete with its 5.4-acre rooftop park, is set to open to the public on Sunday, August 12. It houses a variety of plants and trees. Tables and seating areas are scattered throughout the park for visitors.
“The inspiration actually came immediately from nature,” said senior principal for Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, Fred Clarke. “How do you implant nature ... into the center of the city? How to you give something that people can look at and use everyday of the week and feel healthier, feel more fulfilled, feel welcomed? So I think the inspiration really comes from the human spirit in a certain way.”
