LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles officials announced new initiatives Thursday to enhance safety, cleanliness and health services for residents near MacArthur Park in downtown Los Angeles.

City Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez, who represents the First District, where the park is located, said four new initiatives will be rolled out in partnership with the county and community organizations. Residents can expect an expansion of a health program through LA Care, cleaning crews, “peace ambassadors,” and a mobile overdose response team in the area.
