A 3-year-old girl in Qulin, Missouri, who was reported missing on Thursday, has been found safe and sound after a search-and-rescue operation discovered the toddler less than a quarter a mile away with her pet dog, reported Fox News.
The toddler was reported missing around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A massive search-and-rescue operation ensued involving over 100 people and multiple law agencies.
On Friday morning, searchers heard a dog barking in a cornfield less than a quarter of a mile away—along with the toddler, reported Fox News.
The child had several mosquito bites but was otherwise unharmed.
According to KFVS, it is believed that the child wandered away from her home and the dog, a Yorkie named Fat Heath, followed her and stayed with her all night.
On the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Twitter page, one user tweeted: “What a terrifying experience. The child probably wasn’t as concerned as her parents with her little angel along! It’s good to hear happy endings.”
