A memorial to the opioid epidemic with 22,000 faces carved out of prescription pills has been unveiled in Washington, D.C.
Installed in the park just behind The White House, the memorial wall was constructed from white prescription pills, each cut with a machine to represent a fatal overdose victim’s face.
“My son is on that wall. And he is one of 22,000 people who are represented by families -- mothers, dads, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandparents and friends,” Missy Owen, whose son Davis died of a heroin overdose, said at the exhibit opening on Wednesday, April 11.
