LONG BEACH, Calif.—A man carrying a sledgehammer as he attempted to climb a fence at a Long Beach elementary school on Sept. 19 was pronounced dead at the scene after being confronted by several bystanders.
Officers responded to the 6700 block of Orizaba Avenue, between Paramount Boulevard and Obispo Avenue, near the Artesia 91 Freeway, shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a home invasion, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
