Luxury Kitchen, Bath Chain in Southern California Abruptly Closes

Glendale-based Pirch—a luxury kitchen, bath, and appliance chain—abruptly closed showrooms and distribution centers March 20.

The company announced the move on social media, saying the temporary closures would run through the following weekend.

“This is a pause of business to give management the opportunity to complete a go-forward plan,” the company said in a Facebook post. “We are navigating through various options. We take this situation very seriously and are working diligently to resolve it.”

An announcement was reportedly sent throughout the company internally Tuesday by its chief human resources officer, according to an article in Business of Home, a national home and interior design industry news magazine.

The announcement cited “current business conditions” for the closure, saying operations for the company would be on hold.

Employees were told not to come into work until further notice, according to the article.

Pirch is popular among interior designers, some of whom are now seeking to recoup down payments for large orders, according to reports.

The company has six showrooms across Southern California, including in Mission Viejo, Costa Mesa, Glendale, Rancho Mirage, and two in San Diego County. It also has three warehouses in the region.

Pirch first opened in 2009. While other home and garden stores struggled during the national recession at that time, it drew attention by offering luxury goods and shopping experiences. Customers were greeted with handcrafted espressos and a concierge, according to the Whittier Daily News.

The company expanded across the United States but scaled back in 2017, closing most of its national stores.

The company did not return a request for comment on deadline.
