LOS ANGELES—Authorities announced on Sept 19, nine recent arrests in connection with ongoing investigations into Southland flash mob retail crimes.

On Sept. 14, detectives targeted a business in the 3700 block of Crenshaw Boulevard “in an attempt to resolve theft incidents,” the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Detectives made nine arrests, including two for felony “organized retail theft crew”, one for an outstanding felony arrest warrant, four “repeat offenders” for shoplifting, and two for burglary.

“From the two arrests related to organized retail theft alone, Southwest Burglary Detectives recovered over-the-counter pharmaceutical stolen products from two businesses from within the U-Haul the suspects were using,” police said in a statement.

“In addition, they recovered 37 grams of methamphetamine and U.S. currency that was obtained through the illegal sales of the over-the-counter pharmaceuticals,” police said.
