Five people who were being held hostage by a man inside a home near Dallas were rescued, but the armed man is still engaged in the armed standoff.

NBC DFW reported that the incident took place at 9 a.m. around the 300 block of San Marcos Drive when gunshots were heard.

Irving police spokesman James McLellan said the suspect is believed to be a man in his 60s, and according to the report, he then held several people inside the Irving, Texas, home against their will.

Police spokesman James McLellan said that “a few people were able to escape,” according to Coed.com.

Police said that one person came out of the shed in the backyard at around 11 a.m., while police said four others were freed and safe, the report said. Police said the man is believed to be alone in the house.

“Just in the last few minutes, we’ve actually located one person that came out of a backyard shed,” said Irving PD Public Information Officer James McLellan, CBS DFW reported. “We believe that is one of the people that we believed were still inside the house.”

Police said the bomb squad was deployed to the house, but they said there was no indication that explosives were involved, according to the CBS affiliate report.

No injuries have been reported.

Other details about the case were unavailable.
