The arrests took place amid ongoing violence against ICE officers, a terror attack at ICE’s Dallas facility, and rioters protesting at an Illinois ICE facility.

Officers from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Border Patrol have arrested more than 800 illegal immigrants, including violent criminals, in Illinois, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in an Oct. 1 statement.

The arrests were made as part of Operation Midway Blitz, launched by DHS on Sept. 8, that targets criminal illegal immigrants who come to Chicago and Illinois “seeking protection under the sanctuary policies of Governor Pritzker,” said the agency.
