A crash on Interstate 65 in Indiana led to the leak of hazardous chemicals, and police have said that first responders are facing an explosion risk.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles noted that the fire situation on I-65 is continuing to deteriorate, saying that portions of the highway have been closed down. Houses within a half-mile have been evacuated, according to his Twitter feed.
One person was injured in the accident, but it doesn’t appear to be serious, a report from WHAS-11 said.
It’s not clear what kind of hazardous chemicals leaked from the truck.
Police said that it will take hours to clean up the situation.
