How States Are Implementing Medicaid Work Requirements

About 18.5 million people will be subject to the requirement each year starting in 2027, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2027, new work requirements will take effect for adults enrolled in Medicaid expansion across 41 states (indicated in green). However, residents in Nebraska, Montana, and Iowa should prepare for an earlier implementation date. The Epoch Times

Federal law will require that adults enrolled in the Medicaid expansion meet new work requirements starting on Jan. 1, 2027, though several states are implementing them sooner.

Nebraska started its program on May 1. Montana and Iowa plan to start in July and December, respectively.
