The House on July 24 passed a resolution creating a special task force to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced the task force on July 18 amid bipartisan criticism of both the assassination attempt and the Secret Service’s actions before the incident. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries later endorsed the task force’s creation, which was established by the House in a resolution that passed by a vote of 416–0.
